"Among the Roses" Needle Felted Rabbit Diorama

Among the Roses, a diorama set within a painted chest from the 1930s by famed folk artist, Peter Hunt (1896-1976), was co-created by Heather Burke and Carol Fitzsimons. Setting the scene using her signature “fiber painting” technique, Carol formed a beautiful backdrop of rambling roses, bluebells, and a heart motif inspired by Hunt’s original designs found on all four sides of the chest. Heather crafted the two needle-felted, frolicking Eastern Cottontail rabbits, along with the expanse of wet-felted green lawn. Together with Hunt’s work, it’s a piece nearly ninety years in the making.
